The Best Aires in France 2019/ 2020

One of the things that makes France great for motorhomes are the number of aires. These are places that are specifically created for motorhomes to park, in order to refill/ empty their tanks, recharge the battery & possibly stay the night – many of these are either free or charge a minimal amount.

There are almost 4,000 aires in France & obviously their quality can vary widely, not only in their location, ambience & price but also in their maintenance & available facilities. After researching aires since 2006 for my website:, I have always thought that a guide should be available that distinguishes between the aires that are noisy, neglected or just car park service points & those “true” motorhome aires that are in great locations, well maintained with good facilities & are a pleasure to stay at. With this in mind, I have compiled a list of what I consider to be the best 486 Aires de Services in France. The guide has a detailed description, services available, number of pitches, prices, local amenities, opening times, location, GPS coordinates, directions & a recent review for each of the aires as well as photos & location maps.

In selecting the “Best Aires in France” I have not only used my own judgement & 13 years of experience but have taken into account the opinions of various British motorhomers & French camping-caristes who have visited these aires over the previous year. This guide will be a biannual review as aires often close, are relocated, change their prices, suffer from a lack of maintenance or new ones open.

The Guide contains almost 400 pages, over 400 photos

REVIEWS from verified Amazon Customers:

"Absolutely great purchase. We already had "All the Aires in France" North & South but this book has compiled the best of the Aires from both and put loads of them in this book. It's brilliant.Very informative and lots of detail. Getting to grips with the indexes took a bit of getting used to at first and the black & white map detail could be better but used in conjunction with a good French Road Atlas or Electronic device it's great and you soon start getting to grips with it. To be honest it's probably me more than the book. I would certainly recommend it to anyone heading to France on tour in a Motorhome or Campervan who want to keep the costs down and have a truly relaxing break."  Dave C.

"The book is well laid out and has everything you need to help plan a motorhome trip to France, especially if you dont want to stay on campsites. The information on the types of aires and how to use them will be invaluable on our trip and takes the guesswork out of it all. The only thing I would have liked is the photos to be in colour, but this is a minor thing that does not detract from the usefulness of the book."  Liz R.

"Looking forward to using this book on our next trip to France. It does just what we want, it provides a good overview of Aires and provides enough information for us to choose where we want to wander on our travels in a quick and easy to follow format. We think it's excellent value for money. We also like appreciate the info we get on the website, Motorhoming France, this guide together with the website will make our travels even easier."
